Peter Torr Smith, currently based in Wellington, is a web business specialist and technology business generalist. He has 14 years experience working in the information and software space, as analyst, developer, designer, tester, manager, team leader, and CEO. Peter was the founder and CEO of HireThings.co.nz and enjoys working with organisations to help them strengthen their online presence and effectiveness. With Hire Things up and running and growing, and a good team in place, Peter has since early 2009 been working with Catalyst IT helping define and delivery new and enhanced websites and related capabilities. He was part of the core team developing and supporting eCargo.co.nz at eCentric, and got to work along-side the Trade Me team in their early days. He has worked for Intergen accross many Microsoft technologies, and for the last 4½ years he has co-built and grown Hire Things from an idea into NZ's largest hire and rental marketplace. Hire Things was built using the open source web development framework Ruby on Rails. So with a broad experience in both proprietary and open source software technologies, having worked on a wide range of project types and sizes, and working in organisations both large and small, government, corporate, and start-up, Peter has the experience and knowledge to help ensure any web business initiative is a success. Peter is solid member and player of any team and strives to ensure good solid analysis and smart decisions are central to initiatives he works on. He enjoys helping build and support teams of technologists and designers in delivering great online products. |
